Moving house, and other changes in my life

Just under two weeks ago, I moved out of my apartment in Alexandria, Sydney and moved west to the suburb of Lakemba.

It was hot and humid and it really, truly sucked. I hate moving house. It never gets better, no matter how many times you do it.

While I was moving, I was also feeling pretty miserable, but not mentally miserable! The problem was that I couldn’t walk very well and had annoying cramps. I went to the doctors and had an array of test done to try and find out what was going on – all of them came back clear. Whatever it was, it was bloody annoying, and when I was getting out of breath after just a few steps, I knew something continued to be wrong with my body.

To top things off, I got approached for a job, not in automotive journalism but actually automotive public relations. I loved my job as a journalist at http://www.chasingcars.com.au, but I am always seeking new challenges, so I went along with it just to see what might happen.

I never thought that after everything, I would actually get the job. But I did!

Around the exact same time as I was moving house, I was officially offered a contract for a Senoir Account Manager job with Dentsu Creative PR, part of the much larger Dentsu agency group. I didn’t really think twice and accepted the role.

Having a well-earned beer after a huge year

Now it’s two weeks before Christmas and I still haven’t done all my shopping. The rains are falling like they always do at this time of year, the storms are also rolling in during the afternoons and its humid as anything, but I love this time of year. Typical Queensland weather.

Yesterday, I worked my last day with Chasing Cars, which is more than a bit sad, to be honest. The crew at Chasing Cars have been like family to me and have been my life for the last three and a bit years. Sure I had tough times, but also many good times. Memories I’ll never ever forget. They’ll be with me for life.

Stay tuned for more car adventures in 2025

Now, I’m taking some much needed time between jobs to celebrate Christmas and a very busy 2024 with my close family,1 and I’ll make sure to see some friends, too.

I’ll be taking a break from writing for a while, but don’t worry, I’ll be back on here in the New Year with more rants and raves from my very bruised brain.

Thanks,

Zak
